Spring Riot

Saturday April 27th
11am to 3pm
San Juan Island, WA

$325

As springtime bursts forth in the Puget Sound, join me in exploring the intersection of Dutch Master opulence and contemporary floral design. Working with an exuberant palette of local and organically grown spring blooms, students will receive guidance in creating a modern centerpiece inspired by the still life painters of the 17th and 18th century. The basic principles of foam-free floral design using a flower frog will be covered, as well as tips and tricks for successfully lighting and photographing your floral masterpieces. Photographer Issha Marie will be on hand to lead students in styling and capturing their very own nature mort portrait using their completed arrangement and a variety of unique natural ephemera and objets d’art. I’ll also share my favorite sources for growing beautiful spring bulbs in your own garden.

This class is open to all skill and experience levels, and is timed to allow students wishing to travel from the mainland US to San Juan Island to arrive and depart the same day via the Washington state ferries. A light lunch and refreshments will be served; vessel, reusable flower frog, floral supplies and flowers are included. Clippers will also be provided for the duration of the class. Class size is limited and requires a minimum of six students to run. Fees are non-refundable once minimum class size is reached.
